A player can only be found once a replay of one of their games has been uploaded. Each replay holds all ten players of that game, so an upload by anyone in the match counts for everyone in it.
Future games: install the uploader
With the Heroes Profile uploader installed, every game is uploaded when it ends (Windows, macOS and Linux). Heroes Profile upload page
Past games: upload the whole folder
On the Heroes Profile web uploader, use “Select a folder” and pick the folder below. Heroes Profile upload page

Games uploaded through the web uploader may not count towards Heroes Profile leaderboards (per Heroes Profile).
Uploaded games can take a while to be processed. A "not found" answer is kept for 10 minutes, so search again a little later.
